Hi! My partner and I have been considering different living options recently. We live in the UK and share a flat with a friend to save on money and even then, since rent prices keep going up every year, we feel like we are “wasting” that money that we could otherwise save towards our future goals.
We know for sure we want to move to another European country but we are not exactly sure where yet (Spain is in the talks for now because it’s in between both of our home countries). He works remotely and I do freelance work sporadically so we live mostly off of his income. Also, he drives but I don’t. Our long term goal is to raise enough money to be able to afford a plot of land where we can have a small house with a garden and some chickens so we thought living in a van would help us save more and quicker since we are not paying rent. On the other hand, you still have to pay for the van and refurbish it so idk If it would pay off since we have to make the money back that we spent on it. We were looking into living in it for about 3 years which technically is enough time to make enough money but I know there are always unexpected expenses and set backs when it comes to vehicles.
In your experience, does living in a van give you more financial leverage? Do you get a lot of unexpected expenses?
Also, what is the best and the least good part about van life in your personal opinion? :-) #lifestyle source
