I need some advice from the experienced. Last year my partner and I traveled about in a Pacifica we no-build-outfitted. The bed was comfy and we had storage beneath the bed. It was sort of a prototype for a more committed build. We are going to get a Dodge Ram Promaster and build it this summer.
My partner wants to carry a motorcycle so we don’t have to drive off in the van when he has places to go. I think a motorcycle is a fine idea, conceptually, but I feel like having a hitch rack, even one that swings out, would hamper access to the back. A door on one side would only open about 80 degrees and there would be metal and hitch “stuff” sticking out about 12 inches on the left side.
My partner thinks this won’t impinge but I think it will make the back cramped and a degraded experience. I sort of imagined the back as this outdoor room where I could design a garage/kitchen. See pic for the rack (on someone’s truck).
I‘m into feng shui and aesthetics and like an “airy” feel, especially for my home-on-wheels. Anyone with experience with ”stuff on the back” have info/opinions to share? #lifestyle source
