Now that the opposition won and PiS lost, how do you handle conversation with conservative relatives' dissatisfaction with election results when they bring up the subject?
My parents are deeply conservative. Myself I don't really have much to say, especially since I no longer reside in Poland, but I visit my relatives once in a while.
They freak out claiming "PO will let Muslims immigrants in...", "Poland will become subject to Germany's rule again", and other nonsense. They only watch TVP and "hate" Polsat, TVN, hate Tusk so obviously that doesn't help with their worldview. It seems they are afraid; the new government will cut their retirement pension. When PiS had started forming judicial reform, they jumped high from happiness praising "they will get rid of communists from courts". I also heard things like "Lech Walesa made deal with communist government in 1989 and sold us out".
So far, my only cope has been to avoid discussing politics and when they mention it try to change subject but sometimes you cannot always avoid that. Just recently told them just that it was biggest turnaround (frekwencja in Polish) since 1989, and people had showed up in huge numbers and voted.
