🦠 The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Bundibugyo-virus Ebola outbreak has become the country’s deadliest Ebola outbreak, according to reporting published on 17 August.
The outbreak was declared on 15 May, but WHO says sequencing indicates transmission began in February. It has also spread to Uganda and was designated a public-health emergency of international concern on 17 May.
⚠️ There is no approved vaccine or virus-specific treatment for Bundibugyo virus disease. The response relies on rapid diagnosis, isolation and care, contact tracing, infection control and safe burials.
