I am really starting to tire of the whole 6-8 episode season thing.
Basically what the title says. What brought this to my mind recently was the announcement made that House of the Dragon S2 has changed episode counts from 8-10…
Idk guys, this just made me sad. No matter what, it’s LESS time with the characters you love. I’m all for increasing quality and lowering cost. But is there no other way? I’m actually starting to miss filler, because now I realize filler gave us a lot of small details or character development tidbits the heavier or more action filled episodes of a show wouldn’t have time for.
Then there’s the issue of the off season. Waiting 2-3 years for 10 episodes is just…not the move unless your show is really that good. There’s a reason I didn’t mind waiting for Sherlock back in the day.
Long story short, anything less than 10 episodes that isn’t top quality, leaves me feeling empty - and there seems to be an industry shift towards episode counts in general.
