Popular Prophet 'Onye Eze Jesus' Arrested by Agunechemba Security Outfit in Anambra State
In a significant development, the newly formed security outfit in Anambra State, Agunechemba, has arrested popular self-proclaimed prophet, Onyebuchi Okocha, known as 'Onye Eze Jesus.'
Okocha gained notoriety for his controversial religious practices, including conducting unusual rituals and making bold claims of performing miracles. In 2021, he attracted attention after videos surfaced showing him conducting river-based ceremonies, instructing followers to bathe naked, and throwing money into the water. These activities led the Anambra State government to summon him for questioning.
At the time, the Anambra Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C. Don Adinuba, condemned Okocha's actions, describing them as "criminal and immoral in the name of religion." Authorities warned him against misleading the public and exploiting people’s beliefs.
The Agunechemba security outfit, which has been actively working to maintain law and order in the state, took action to prevent further controversial activities associated with Okocha. Reports indicate that he will be handed over to the police for further investigation into his practices.
