Several river terns have recently been photographed hunting in the Daying River of Yingjiang County in southwest China's Yunnan Province. River terns are extremely rare in China, with a population of no more than 10. They are listed as one of the country's first-class protected animals. The birds fly back to Yingjiang County from the Irrawaddy River Basin in Myanmar at the end of December every year and return in June the following year. They are typical summer migratory birds and feed mainly on small fish. (Photo: Zhu Bianyong) #chinaseen
