For context I’m (22F) a senior Arizona State University biology student with a specialization in cellular and genetic development. I study online because it was the only way I could afford it and I’m a barista. I’ve had incredibly limited experience in a lab due to being online and I’ve applied to over 200 internships in my area the past two years and haven’t gotten any, I live in a city that’s known for biotechnology. I recently applied to four forensics internships that I meet all the requirements for and have been in contact with the lead cell analysis (I don’t know if I got it for about two more weeks). I don’t really know what else to do, I’ve asked to even just shadow someone in a lab and every time I’m never met with anything hopeful. Please be kind I don’t really have a lot of guidance in any sense with college as I’m a first gen college student. I have done phlebotomy (I’m not certified but I have over 80 draws), I have experience with electrophoresis and have briefly touched PCR techniques. I’m worried about what to do after I graduate I’ve been incredibly interested in forensics but have little information, I’ve been told to pursue a masters in forensics when I graduate but I want more experience in a lab setting before I do that. #animals source
