EU Citizen Looking for IT Jobs in Germany — Tips for Jobs & Housing?
Hey folks,
I'm an EU citizen planning to relocate to Germany, preferably around Hessen or North Rhine-Westphalia (Frankfurt, Cologne, Düsseldorf, etc.). I’m in IT (SysAdmin / Infrastructure / Data Center) and looking for English-speaking roles — not dev jobs, but more on the support/networking/system admin side.
I’ve already started checking roles from companies like Amazon, Team.Blue http://Team.Blue, etc., but I’d love some *real answers from people who’ve done this before*:
* Where did you find IT jobs without needing fluent German? Any job boards or companies you’d recommend? * Do any companies in those areas hire expats with basic German but strong IT backgrounds? * How did you find a place to live without living in a WG (shared flat)? I'm looking for private rentals — even short-term to start. How do you find those without a SCHUFA or German payslips? * Is it possible to find an apartment or studio that allows Anmeldung as a newcomer? * Any hidden websites or strategies to avoid all the fake listings / insane competition?
I’m trying to make this move soon, but navigating housing + jobs as a newcomer is kind of a mess. Any tips or experiences would be super appreciated.
