obsessively reading 100 years of solitude and it’s probably the greatest book I’ve ever read

jokes aside I think it’s amazing, obviously, and even though me saying that it’s good doesn’t bring anything in new to the table, I do think that for me it’s set a standard. it made me realise the breadth in skill and talent that someone like Gabriel Garcia Marquez had, and even other great, published successful authors have.
What books have left you almost shell shocked in that same way? What book did you read and just think “wow, this is the real deal, this is almost unfair to other authors”?
