Constantly amazed you can design something and then have something in your hand
So this is version 1 and just printed version 2 of Ashitaka's Sword from the Studio Ghibli film Princess Mononoke. I've wanted the sword for years and would search online for stl files for a good enough free model every week or two for the last 3 years.
So I bit the bullet with Blender and sat with a few frames of the film and made version 1. So far on thingiverse it's had 77 downloads which I'm amazed that anyone would want it. But after making my brother watch the film after seeing the sword there is 1 scene... Just 1 scene with a close up of the grip...
Obviously animation has its limits, but do wish 2 months ago I watched the film more closely. But today I finished printing off my new version, I have learnt so much in blender, so now have a proper tape looking handle, I've also learned how to join pieces together more solid (Bostik all purpose clear glue, takes a while to dry), better filler for cracks and defects (Ronseal multi-purpose wood filler) and some good acrylics (pebeo studio acrylics).
I think I've enjoyed 3d printing more in the last month and a half than I have in the previous 3 years.
