An appreciation of the Series S and what Xbox is doing with the ecosystem.
Hi all, hope you have had a happy holiday. As the title says; I just wish to share my appreciation of the little console and what Xbox has done this generation and is doing. I know it's probably not going to be a popular post with long time Xbox folk, and that's fair enough.
I have never had an Xbox before this generation, I've always had Playstation consoles, though I am in no way a Sony guy (I don't like their first party titles first and foremost). About three years ago I got tired of waiting for PS5 to be readily available at a good price and I took the plunge and bought a Series S. It was an affordable entry point into next gen and I wanted to play Destiny 2 at 60fps. I did return it and got a Series X for the storage and the disc drive but thus began my love affair with Xbox and what it can do. Three years on and I own multiple Xbox t-shirts and hoodies and other merch. I've never bought Sony or Nintendo merch before! My girlfriend owns a Series S, she came from a PS4 absolutely adores it. For Christmas we got my daughter a Series S too. She had really gotten into Fortnite over the last 6 months or so and as good as the Switch is it's not good for that and so we got her one and she loves it. This culminated in the three of us having a Fortnite LAN party if you will. My GF used her system on the living room TV, we brought my kids TV and console down from the bedroom and I was streaming it via cloud to my Quest 3 and it all worked brilliantly.
I think the Series S is seriously underrated and gets a lot of unnecessary hate. I know 4 people in my real life who moved from PS to Xbox all because Microsoft offered an affordable next gen system and that's awesome. I love the Xbox ecosystem, Xbox Play Anywhere is a fantastic thing and I hope going forward more and more games adopt it. I love playing something on my ROG Ally and then being able to continue the save when I get home on my Series X. Right now I'm debating whether to double dip on Balatro (I own a physical copy) so I can stream it on my Ally or whatever else when I can't use the TV for whatever reason.
Sorry if this is a slightly nonsensical post, Xbox and what they're doing has a lot of negative press and rightly so in most instances but I do think they are doing some great and amazing things too and whilst we should be critical of what they do they should also be praised for Ws as well. Hope everyone who reads this has a great new year! #games source
