I have a **2019 Sunlight Cliff 640 RT Adventure Edition** on the **Fiat Ducato** chassis.
My wife and I are planning a **3 month trip through the Nordic countries starting in February**. The van currently has a **Truma Combi (gas)** for heating, but because LPG can be difficult to exchange between Nordic countries, and diesel is much easier for us, I plan to install a separate diesel air heater instead of relying on the Truma.
I'm curious if anyone has installed a diesel heater alongside their existing Truma Combi rather than replacing it.
My current plan is:
* Install a **5 kW Nordkapp diesel heater** under the floor. * Bring the hot air into the van through a bulkhead pass-through next to the Truma. * Connect it to **3 or 4 of the existing 7 Truma air ducts**. * Leave the Truma in place for hot water and as a backup heater.
I chose the 5 kW model because I expect the additional ducting to create more resistance, and I've read that the larger unit handles longer duct runs better.
Has anyone done something similar?
I'd especially appreciate:
* Photos of your underfloor installation. * How you mounted the heater underneath the van. * Any lessons learned or things you'd do differently. * Whether tying into the existing Truma ducting worked well or caused any issues.
