Scrambling for a new phone and phone plan

For a long while I’ve been on an Xfinity phone plan with my dad, aunt and a friend of theirs. Due to changing internet providers for something cheaper, our phone plan is going up to something unsustainable. I’ve been paying for my part of course, as well as the payment for my iPhone 16 that I got new when my 11 finally kicked the bucket (may she rest in peace, I loved that phone).
I’m now on the hunt for not only a new phone plan but a new phone, since mine isn’t paid off. The Xfinity plan was in my dad’s name and he’s stated he has no intention on making me pay for a phone through someone we’re not getting service from, so I’m free to get a new one and my own plan for just me and throw the iPhone 16 I’m typing this on in an EcoATM.
As I just said, I’m looking for a plan for one person. My dad is over 65 so he’s going for that phone service for 65+ people specifically. I don’t necessarily have a limit on what it can cost, but as low as possible is what I absolutely need. I was looking at Visible and was really excited about the process until I realized I had to do a down payment of 200+ dollars for the phone. If it’s not obvious, I’m totally new to this.
I don’t have all the money in the world, but I won’t budge on an iPhone. I’ve always used them and I’m not about to learn a new phone system. I like Apple. As for what type, I’d prefer a 16 again if I can, but if there’s cheaper options then I’m open to it. I’m on a bit of a time crunch since my dad plans on not paying Xfinity anymore (we’re currently behind) so whenever they cut off our service is when I’ll be “phoneless” unless I’m home and have wifi.
