Ive been in a state of burn out for the past year or so. I have chronic depression and autism but in the US there is no safety net for me and I have to keep working. I took a week of FMLA to try and recover but of course that wasn’t enough and I’m right back to where I was. the burnout is so bad. i never stick with a job more than a year until this one, about to hit year 3. im self isolating, can no longer do art (my one joy), I feel nothing and don’t talk. got to my desk the other day and started crying. I thought to myself … this is it. for the rest of my life. it’s seriously a life sentence.
I could quit and survive a couple months on savings, I could suffer through a masters degree and rack up unbelievable debt, I could get a cert at CC and then… what? I’m right back here again.
life is SO fucking short. i had to learn this at a young age as everyone around me died, some violently. I genuinely can’t wrap my head around the fact that short of self deleting there’s literally no escape from spending our brief brief time here like this. I don’t know how people cope. tho most of them have a partner or family or a pet or friend to live for. I dunno.
before anyone comments to get my meds straight yes I am in therapy yes I have taken almost every marketed antidepressant nothing makes this tolerable at all. yes I love working out and I simply do not have the energy to do it anymore. source
