Would reporting a manned aircraft to the FAA for harassing UAV operations do anything?
I am operating a heavy UAS under a 44807 exemption. Part of my exemption is I have to file a NOTAM that shows where I am operating and has a short description of what is happening.
I think that a helicopter pilot that is a competitor to me is using the NOTAM system to find out where I am operating and then just flies around in my operation area frequently causing me to have to ground the drone and wait for him to leave. It’s definitely slowing me down and I want to take some sort of action taken.
I’m wanting to report this to the FAA but I’m not sure if they will do anything besides reiterating that as an unmanned pilot I have to give way to manned operations. It’s just annoying as hell that I have to jump through all sorts of hoops for the FAA to be legal but this asshole in a helicopter is using the system the FAA forced me to use to ground me.
