I just finished reading A Prayer for Owen Meany for the first time
Irving is among my favorite writers. Once a year I take one of his novels during holidays and savor it. I really enjoy his hypnotic writing style. I have read so far, The Cider Rules House ( which I'm about to reread over the summer) and The World According to Garp.
I bought A Prayer 18 months ago and couldn't find the time to digest its religious dissertation, but this July I pushed through my hesitation. I just finished the book and I can tell that its ending is among the best I have ever read!!!! I'm tripping with Irving's symbolisms and meanings in it. I'm also in tears crying like a baby.
I wasn't expecting such richness and calculated use of actions!! I'm really intrigued by how Irving used Owen's parents on his observations about the character's development. I will have to read the novel again! I just bought three more of his books, but now, I need to stay silence and make a prayer for O Meany.. Has he converted me? Does my agnosticism make me a believer??
