This is the province of Mea HongSon in the North of Thailand. The village we are in is BaanRakThai which translates village that loves Thai (referring to the people). It is predominately a Chinese ethnic village who came to Thailand. It was settled by former Kuomintang (KMT) (Nationalist) fighters from Yunnan province, China, after the Communist takeover of China in 1949. And thus because of the refuge afforded them, they are the Thai Loving village.
