Finished 1984 a month ago and I still can't stop thinking about it
Read *1984* a while back and honestly it's been living in my head ever since. Tried to talk to friends about it but I don't think any of them have actually read it. Hard to have a conversation when the other person doesn't know what you're talking about lol.
Then I was browsing online and came across a shirt on pagewings that said "Big Brother is watching" on it. Bought it on a whim, nothing serious. Ended up wearing it to a coffee shop one day, and the barista pointed at my shirt and said "that's my favorite book." We ended up talking for like half an hour about Orwell. Felt nice to actually connect with someone over it without having to awkwardly bring it up myself.
Kinda made me think maybe there's something to putting little references out there. Not as a "look at me I read books" thing, more like a way to find people who are already on the same page.
