I don't really get it. How often does the pointy end miss you but you are close enough to it for the blades to do something? I would think that if you're near the blades when a 800 pound thing going 500 mph lands a foot away they aren't super useful.
pointy end may hit you in an arm or shoulder, destroy it, but leave you alive
