You know as somebody who studies religion, I don't know why people make a big deal about the violence in the Bible or God passing judgment. If you studied other religions you would see that the Bible is really mild in its story telling

Other religions go into detail, and their god's are almost short tempered and come across as down right genocidal. The biblical God is slow and patient when it comes to judgements.

He spends more time in dialogue with His creation sometimes for hundreds of years.

I don't know, maybe I am desensitized but nothing gory in the Bible shakes me. I also love horror movies and I have seen a lot of messed up stuff. Maybe that's why I am not phased.

People like Joel Osteen are the embodiment of the devil

I hate how this man has a following, I understand that people follow him for religious purposes but he knowingly preaches incorrect ideas about god and morality for his own gain. He is successful from a strategy that stems from evil and sinful intent, where he preys on vulnerable people in this world with religion to preach fake values to keep them in his cult. Like the most memorable way, is that he has been known to preach the idea that if u pray for something to happen that god will essentially have that thing magically happen. But this is bullshit obviously because this is enforcing the belief that good things can happen to u magically by god through the idea of luck and not through the idea of working towards improving the conditions of ur life. So essentially Joel is preaching sloth (literally a sin) saying thats its okay because god gives his

followers fortune through luck. Through my explanation, its pretty easy to assume he is very much disliked by god because he pretends to represent him but he knowingly does it for a cult following and to gain financially from them.

If you pass an exam you, you did nothing - God passed the exam for you, but if you fail it is your fault. This is one the many terrible experiences I faced growing up in a Christian home.

When I was going to school and I passed an exam my parents would say "you did not pass the exam, Jesus did it, say thank you Jesus", however, if I failed an exam I would get the blame for it. As an adult I find the whole thing ridiculous, I mean if God gets credit when I pass an exam, should God not also be blamed when I fail an exam?

I honestly wish I never grew up in a Christian home with ridiculous rules - this is bad, that is bad. Have to dress a certain way to church etc.

As an adult, I see Christians as a bunch of lunatics. Keep in mind, I am a guy who went to church since I was kid and was forced to sing the same bloody songs that were written by American and Australian Gospel bands and singers, I am also the guy who was Youth pastor once.

Lunatic Christians are those who constantly say "God bless you", "Jesus bless you", "praise the lord" etc. These people always try to preach and somewhere in a conversation is a reference to the bible.

Normal Christians are those who you can talk with normally, they will not talk about religion or ask you what you about your beliefs. They are just normal.

How do you feel about the recent ruling on women being topless in Berlin?

Recently, in Berlin, a woman who was sun bathing topless and was thrown out of a swimming pool took legal action. Now the Berlin government is legalising women to be topless. To me, this makes sense as men are able to do the exact same without condemnation but how do you feel about it and is there any biblical knowledge that would apply? God bless ❤️

I walked out of my church today

I haven't been going quite as regularly as I did before the pandemic. Today, the pastor let a church councilmember address the congregation, warning them not to give money to the homeless, because it would attract more of them to the church, and they might use the money to buy alcohol. The church would give them bags of a few pieces of food and point them to a homeless shelter, but as the "security team", it was important to protect the church and not enable "bad behavior".

My blood ran cold and I left the church at that point. I don't think what was said was right. I've given money to homeless people before plenty of times, and what the church councilman said stigmatizes homeless people as pariahs, problems to manage and not people made in the image of God.

But... maybe I'm wrong. What are your thoughts?

Where is the anti-divorce movement? Divorce is far more pervasive in US society than homosexuality, abortion, or any of the issues conservatives get worked up about that happen a tiny fraction of the time and are personal issues that do not affect society at large. Divorce directly violates the commandment against adultery and actually impacts others directly: the children of broken homes. So why isn't there meaningful time and resources being spent on legally banning divorce in the US?
