Help with supports

Haw can I make the flat part better? Im trying to print a wallet since most of the internet only has models for cards, not cash. The problem is that the supports leave a very messy surface and they are hard to remove. For the angled part I can just get it to 35° so it doesn’t need supports. For the print in place hinges to work it has to be printed flat on the bed with this orientation.

Im on a Bambulab a1 using Elegoo Pla Basic, I use bambu studio.

Всем привет, я делал пост про плохое качество печати своего Bambulab a1 mini. Я снизил температуру по советом людей. Печать стала лучше но проблема не исчезла и появились нити. Я сейчас не дома и в доме очень влажно. Думаю сделать сушилку с помощью стала моего принтера. Потом напишу пост про это! Ещё можете дать совет по моёй проблеме, буду благодарен 😊

Help a mom out? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hey all! My kiddo chose this collapsible knife/sword yesterday at a community festival. Poor little (he's ten) guy has had some rotten luck lately with 3D printed objects, but continues to be drawn to all of the fun fidgets and things when he finds them in the wild. I can't say I blame him!

Anyway. Here's where we're at today. I am quite clueless when it comes to 3D printing, but it looks to me like the little band at the bottom of the detached piece came off (broke off? slipped off?) and that allowed the blade tip to come out of the larger segment below it. When it came out, the small band was not attached to the blade tip.

He's bummed, and I'm not seeing a way to put the pieces back together (I'm afraid to damage it if I try too hard!), so I thought I'd see if anyone here has a suggestion or is familiar with this particular design and can advise. Google suggests it may have been printed as one piece, which would mean I cannot fix it, correct?

Update: I finally finished the 3D-printed enclosure for my robotic lamp. Meet Watti!

After several iterations, I’ve finally finished the 3D-printed enclosure, including the base. The lamp now looks like one complete character rather than an open prototype.

I also redid the cable routing, reassembled all the wiring, and added a power switch on the back.

And the lamp finally has a name: Watti.

Help explaining core-XY to my girlfriend.

Im building a pen plotter based on core-XY design. I was trying to explain it to my girlfriend and she was getting very frustrated with how the belts move. I figured that someone here might have a good explanation.

I was explaining how one belt moves the tool 45 and -135 deg; the other is mirrored. This is unfortunately where we came to a grinding halt. She could not understand why the head doesnt move all the way to the left or right then up or down. I understand that it is a compound motion but I am nowhere as mechanically inclined as I thought I would be to explain this concept.

I tried explaining how when one of the motor moves, the length of belt 'a' and 'b' must both become smaller at the same rate but that only served to confuse her more. At some point I tried to mention that the red belt has significance in applying tension but I dont really know myself about that one.

Anything would help tremendously as now im lost too 😂

So I built a 3D-printed electric Generator into my bike

Please ask me ANYTHING ;D

This was for a school project in physics class.
Bought a Bambu A1 and learned Fusion360.

I took my old bike and removed the rear wheel. Then I printed out the rotor and stator in multiple parts out of PETG and glued them together (beige and gray). The more critical parts are even from PETG-CF (red).

There are cutouts for 27 Neodyme Magnets and 36 Spools. The spools are also 3D-printed and then the copper coil was winded by hand. Then I soldered each spool in three phases together.

One end of each phase went into a star point and the other ends went into two bridge rectifier. I connected each plus and minus together, so I got one plus and minus output each.

Those went into an electrolyte-condensator and then into a DC-DC Stepdown Converter with a USB-A port.

I wish I could attach a second video where a phone actually charges.

I reach peak voltages of 36V.

I got customers for my 3D-printing business, but struggled with pricing and building a brand. How should I restart?

A while ago, I started a small 3D-printing business. I offered custom printing and design services using my Bambu A1 Mini and P1S.

I actually got a few paid jobs, so I know there was some demand. Most people, however, only contacted me when they needed a specific print or wanted a quote. They didn’t really care about my brand or have a reason to follow it.

I also struggled with pricing. I wasn’t sure how to properly account for print time, material, failed prints, electricity, machine wear, and any time spent designing the part. Looking back, I think some potential customers walked away because my quotes were too high but I also didn’t want to charge so little that the job wasn’t worth doing. Since I never felt confident about my prices, quoting customers became difficult.

Eventually, I became discouraged and stopped consistently posting or promoting the business.

Now I’m thinking about rebuilding it, but I want to do it properly this time. I have experience with 3D printing, CAD, machining, and designing functional parts, so I would rather focus on useful custom solutions than sell the same toys and trinkets everyone else sells.

For those who have successfully built a 3D-printing business:

* How do you calculate a fair price for custom prints?
* Do you charge separately for CAD and design work?
* How did you turn one-time custom jobs into a recognizable brand?
* Should I specialize in a niche instead of accepting every type of order?
* What kind of content actually attracts paying customers?
* Would it be better to sell my own products alongside custom printing?

Getting a few orders showed me that the original idea wasn’t a complete failure. I just didn’t have a reliable pricing system or a clear reason for customers to remember the business. I’d appreciate honest advice on how I should approach a second attempt.
