I've been eager to post images of the UU- #panflute that I ordered over a month ago from an ebay seller. The price was quite reasonable but in hindsight, I made the mistake of NOT selecting expedited shipping. With Standard Shipping it took over a month for the package to arrive from China.
-Sometimes, the wait is not worth the saving of a few dollars so if you decide to buy and think you'll be impatient to wait, go for the expedited/AIR shipping.
I wanted this for several reasons. First after affordability, that it is a left-hand version. -The long pipes are to the player's left, progressing up the musical scale going to the right just like a piano.
I have several #bamboo 'artesanal,' or 'craft' (but totally playable) #pan_flutes that are left-handed in design and they seem more intuitive to play. It just seems easier to 'find the note' when improvising.
Also, this being manufactured plastic, the surfaces inside and out are immaculate. They are flaw-free. It was on the advice and mentioning of pan flutist #panflutejedi Douglas Bishop on his page http://www.panflutejedi.com/academypage.html that I felt I needed one of these.
#DavidDöring has also commented in a YouTube video about the benefits of a 'perfect' plastic pan flute. He states to have even played in concert using a plastic pan flute before (albeit, surely a larger and better pan flute!)
Make no mistake, this is little more than a 'toy' and not a 'professional' model. Yet it is a well-crafted toy and quite worth the acquisition. It's a good knock-about pan flute to have when traveling, easily transported and it's not like carrying a more expensive wooden or high-end bamboo-crafted instrument that would require special handling care. -One could strap this UU-panflute to a backpack and go for a hike or bike ride and not worry about damaging their special instrument...
I think this is a little easier to play than my right-handed models and I'm getting used to it. This 15-pipes pan flute is virtually identical in tube-diameters and wall thickness and lengths as the wooden one I bought from Brad White's pan flute shop, but this is not as 'wide' overall, causing a bit of re-learning curve.
But I'm really enjoying it, a lot!
