The Pharisees tested Jesus about divorce. He pointed them back to the beginning: "God made them male and female... the two shall become one flesh. What God has joined together, no human being must separate." The disciples, stunned, suggested it might be better not to marry.
Marriage is not merely a human institution but a divine covenant reflecting Christ's union with the Church. Its indissolubility is not a burden but a gift—a call to the kind of faithful, self-giving love that images God's own love.
Whether married, single, or consecrated, reflect on the call to faithful love in your vocation. Every state of life is an invitation to mirror Christ's total gift of self. Ask the Lord for the grace of fidelity—in small things and great—as a reflection of His eternal love.
