Hybrid Resilient Floor in front of pellet stove
I am planning on installing hybrid resilient flooring in a large living space that has a pellet stove on a 6” brick hearth. The stove manual says that any LVP flooring must have 29” of alternative flooring before the LVP. I was planning on laying tile down kinda as an extension of the hearth on floor level. My wife wants to get a fireproof mat to lay in front instead. I insist that it will not work and we need some kind of tile or similar alternative. Am I correct in saying that? She does not want to put any kind of buffer that will breakup the LVP so are there any other options?

Didn’t expect blinds to be my answer to this
I got motorized blackout shades a month ago and before that i kept saying it was a pointless thing to buy. the thing i ended up liking is them opening slowly in the morning with the sun so i wake up to that instead of an alarm. they went up without any drilling which was one less thing to worry about and the battery is still doing ok after a month. the blackout works for most of the day but i notice a little light around the sides sometimes when its really bright outside. i mostly leave them on the schedule and dont mess with the settings much. after the first few days i stopped checking if they were working and just let them do their thing. its not like they changed my whole routine or anything but the morning part is the only reason i still use them every day.
still not sure what other smart home stuff people actually use though.
