Has anyone used ChatGPT to design a smart appliance like a dog watering system?
I have been working on a dog waterer with a reserved tank for a while. I have only been working on the plans and gathering pieces to make it so that it would attach to my waterline under my sink and refill a container when it got low.
I had planned to use only reed switches with a floating magnet to control an Arduino that would report back to Home Assistant. Then I thought I'd just check with ChatGPT to see if there was a better way to do it.
I was blown away by what a great response. I have a much simpler design now with backup sensors that prevent overflow, a touch sensor for the dog to auto-refill if the hall sensor acts up. It all connects to Home Assistant via ESPHome and Wifi. And the dashboard looks amazing. I just need to assemble it and integrate the results. All under the direction of ChatGPT.
Has only done this before, I am sure, and did you run into any problems? I plan to publish my results when finished if anyone is interested. Just wondered what other things people have tried with ChatGPT and Home Automation.

Have dedicated 10 years of my life into perfecting controlled indoor gardens. Built industrial farms and smaller setups. All of my learnings have been poured into this cabinet. Fully automatic irrigation and nutrient mixing. Controllable light spectrum, interchangeable shelves, app controlled. Can produce up to 300 pound of produce per year with a tiny footprint.
I’m not sure there is an intrest for this kind of stuff here. What are your thoughts?

Is caulk enough to fill gaps in hardie backer board before tiling shower?
My contractor is in the process of installing tile. He applied red guard and let it dry.
I noticed some gaps in between boards and he said he would be filling with caulk. We had leaking issues with our old shower so I may be a little over cautious because of that.
I’ve seen others fill joints with tape and mortar, but is that necessary?

How To Treat Patio Wood
Recently purchased a home and noticed the wood used for the patio has potential water damage/stains and might no be treated for outdoor use. I cannot tell if the wood is just really old and needs a touch up, or if its indeed not treated.

I am thinking about using a varnish and then painting on top of that. Is that overkill? Or not enough? Also, should I sand this wood before hand?

Expanding Foam Problems
Does anyone know how to remove that expanding Foam insulation stuff from areas it wasn't intended to bond?
TLDR I got it on my floor and acetone did not remove it while it was still tacky, and now it's dry and like freakin epoxy. The label said to use acetone when it's uncured and to use a serrated blade when it's cured but I can't use a serrated blade to scrape all this crap off my floor.
If you wanna know why I'm so clumsy, I'm not really. I had a $2500 insulation job done and they foam sealed most of my ceiling fixtures but I had a little cellulose insulation coming out a hole it shouldn't, and got some Great Stuff to deal with it myself. They didn't wanna do it because they said the gap was too big and they were afraid of getting it all over the place. I took care of the ceiling part just fine but of course I didn't think to put down a drop cloth. So now I have a brand new jacked up floor spot. I kinda think, they could have just put some duct tape around the gap at that spot in the attic couldn't they?
And yeah no, I couldn't use duct tape because the rafters are all full of spray cellulose stuff now, so I had to tackle it from the underneath.

What to do with land
I have 7.5 acres of land and about .5 acres is a narrow split between 2 neighbors, apparently they have used it for who knows what ( a lot of trash is there etc) what is the best way to utilize the land/ create a privacy screen so they cannot use it. I met one of them and the guy is a total douche, and tried to argue that he has a right to the land which he doesn’t. The piece of land is 50ft by 650 ish ft. Any advice is welcome.

How to remove stairs polish wax
The polish wax is slippery. I have fallen down the stairs a few times already. I was trying to install anti-slip tread tape but didn’t like the way it looks so I tried to remove them. Well, the wax came off! The pieces look like dried honey films.
Are these water-based wax? What do I use to remove? Ammonia? Some other special chemicals? I have a 3-yr old so I will have to do one step at a time 😂 thanks
