Let’s talk about something that keeps a lot of people stuck—self-interest. Now, I’m not saying self-interest is bad. In fact, it’s natural. We all have a desire to succeed, to feel safe, to be liked. But there’s a big difference between healthy self-interest and harmful self-interest.
Healthy self-interest is what keeps you moving forward. It’s what drives you to take care of yourself, work toward your goals, and improve your life. But harmful self-interest? That’s where the problem begins. That’s when your sense of self-worth gets tangled up in whether you succeed or fail. That’s when you start fearing failure so much that you avoid taking risks. Or you become so attached to a certain outcome that you stress yourself out trying to control what you can’t control.
Here’s the truth: You don’t actually fear failure. You fear what failure says about you. But what if failure said nothing about you? What if success didn’t either? What if you were free to just do what you do, without the weight of expectations, self-doubt, or the need to prove anything?
That’s what freedom looks like—being fully engaged in life but not attached to outcomes. Imagine being on a boat, moving from place to place, exploring, learning, growing, but never feeling stuck. When you let go of harmful self-interest, you don’t become passive—you become limitless. You stop holding yourself back. You stop doubting. You just live. And when you live like that? You do better in everything.
If this reached you or there was something that truly resonated with you, please like and share in hopes this will maybe reach someone that it could help.
The life we live is always limited by what our mind believes.
It’s like a young man that lives in a village in a deep valley surrounded by mountains. All his life all he has known is the village and the people in it. There was nothing else beyond that belief.
Until one day a stranger showed up. The young man was amazed. He didn’t realize there were other villages with unknown people. So he set out one day and climbed the mountain, only to see many villages and people everywhere in the other valleys.
Our mind is the same. If we limit ourselves from experiencing new things, we live a limited life. But it wasn’t the mountains that limited that man. It was the young man’s beliefs that his village was it. Once he removed the limiting belief, he made his way to new experiences and a new world of abundance.
Don’t let your limiting beliefs limit your life. For your mind is the only thing that does limit you. Change your paradigm by changing your limits. You always had this power. Use it!!
