Woman falls 8 feet into hole that suddenly opened in her backyard: ‘This might be my death date’
LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (WCBS) - A New York woman spent part of her 47th birthday partially underground in her own backyard.
Danielle Tammone said she was just walking through her Long Island yard when a hole opened up below her feet last Thursday.
“It’s my birthday. This might be my death date,” she said.
She fell about 8 feet down and found herself unable to get out.
“Couldn’t breathe well because I was like gasping and scared and crying,” Tammone said.
Luckily, neighbors heard her screams and found her.
They called first responders, who used a ladder to get her out through mud, water and roots.
Tammone estimated she spent about 30 minutes stuck in the hole.
