TLDR: Tyrel Bauer got a Gordie Howe hat trick in 7 minutes 23 seconds in the Jets wild comeback against the Habs!
Tyrel Bauer received a fighting major with 9:20 remaining in the third period of the Jets vs Habs game. After serving his penalty, he came out of the box and proceeded to score a goal and record an assist, all within 40 seconds of each other. His assist came with just 1:57 remaining on the clock.
That means he completed a Gordie Howe hat trick in just 7 minutes and 23 seconds of game time!
My question is: Are there any documented examples of a Gordie Howe hat trick being completed faster?
I think this could be a contender for the fastest Gordie Howe hat trick ever! #sport source
The Utah Jazz were supposed to be...better than 1-7, right?
I think we've all forgotten how competitive the Jazz tended to be to open the past few seasons. Sure, they'd often rev up the tank as the season went on - with last year being especially egregious (and rewarded) - but it was clear they had a lot of talent in need of that franchise guy to provide their supporting pieces a solid fondation.
They got that with the second overall pick. And this was after they added in Jaren Jackson Jr. The Jazz being penned as a playoff team may have been premature but surely they'd be in the race for the play-in rather than a contending to be a relegation roommate with the recent influx in talent even if there were questions about their centre position, right? #sport
