New month, new hope. October has arrived with beautiful, sunny weather; I hope it stays this way for the rest of the month. ☀️ I love the color yellow; it radiates warmth, since it is the color of the sun.
The autumn crocuses (Colchicum autumnale) have appeared! 🌸🌸🌸🌸 I had been eagerly waiting to finally see these pink wildflowers! Interestingly, the flowers emerge directly from the ground—without leaves—in the shape of a long funnel between September and October. Every part of the plant is toxic to both humans and animals, so I am not transplanting it into my garden.
I love blue flowers. 🩵💙🩵 Did you know that this is the rarest flower color in nature? Chicory (Cichorium intybus) is a wildflower blooming now in Europe, and it’s one of my favorites. It supports digestion and can be used to make a coffee substitute. I love photographing it; it’s so simple and charming.
