Why do we remember embarrassing moments more than happy ones ?
Have you ever had a memory from five years ago suddenly hit you hard just as you were trying to fall asleep? 💥
There was this one time we had a talent contest held at our school. My dad encouraged me to participate, teaching me a wonderful Bengali song, a Rabindra sangeet, by the incredible Bengali Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Although I wasn't really that much into singing, I agreed. I never knew at that point how badly I would mess it up.
On the day of the contest, I went up to the stage, trying to take deep breaths to control my nerves, but unfortunately, that didn't work. As I started singing, I realized I was off-tune and felt like my voice sounded awful. Then to my horror, I completely blanked on the lyrics 💀 In that moment of pure dread, I knew it was over. I accepted defeat and made my way off the stage, even though our teacher insisted I try again, but I had already embarrassed myself in front of the whole primary section and lost my spirit.
When I told Dad what happened, he was pretty disappointed, He had really invested so much time and effort into helping me prepare, and I hated myself for letting him down. 😔
After that traumatizing experience, I stayed away from singing or any contests whatsoever. I still get flashbacks of that day whenever I go watch any singing events...

"Your smile could be the reason for someone’s happiness." -Anonymous
Got a li’l bored while waiting for my transaction at the Municipal’s Treasurer’s office to be done. So, I explored nonchalantly inside the building’s lobby. Until I found this unfamiliar device which was attached in the wall with a caption on top that says “Your smile could be the reason for someone’s happiness.”
I stood thoughtlessly before the device and positioned my face on the screen smiling as if preparing for a selfie. I waited excitedly to what would happen next. But, the word “FAILED” in red capital letters flashed onto the screen repeatedly every time I made an attempt. Out of nowhere, a lady stood beside me silently. She observed me with a baffled look on her face that I shyly stepped out of the way. She repeated what I did before the apparatus and succeeded instantly. There and then it dawned on me that the said instrument was intended ONLY for the employees to get a pass to a certain office. I felt my face got blushed in embarrassment. 🙈
