Sure, we always say what we want. We can even tell what we don’t want. But is that your true interest or something you just started believing was what you want or need?
I hear people’s wants and needs all the time. And they never seem aligned with what they are trying to get in life. Many people have told me that something new like a car, a house, a lover, or even a job would make them happy. That money would answer all their questions. Even a different location would change everything. But are these true interests or just limited beliefs that will bring on the true interest. Neither. Just some kind of false belief system to distract us from the truth.
What do you believe these things would bring you? Happiness? Joy? Success? Fulfillment?
All of these are manifestations of internal being. Interest that we yearn for but believe something out there will produce it.
The truth is all of those false beliefs might get you excitement. But not the true interests. Happiness, joy, success, and fulfillment come from within you. Through gratitude, compassion, empathy, and forgiveness for others and especially for yourself. Comparing yourself only to yourself. Working and creating a better you. For things to change for the better, you have to get better. All those external things just distract you from the truth of what your really want. Work internally and change and you will experience the external environment change for the better. It doesn’t happen the other way around. You get better, everything else gets better. That’s how you know you have obtained your true interests.
