Today is #InternationalCatDay !! 😺😺😺

Today, we celebrate our feline friends who bring joy, comfort, and companionship into our lives. From the ancient Egyptians to modern households, cats have been cherished members of human society for thousands of years.

Cats are more than just adorable companions; they help reduce stress, boost our moods, and even keep pests at bay. As we honour them today, let's also remember the many feral cats that need our help and care. Consider adopting a cat in need or supporting local shelters and TNR (trap-neuter-return) programmes to give feral cats a better life. Because EVERY cat deserves a loving home and a chance to thrive.

Share your favourite cat moments with me, and let's spread the love for our purrrrrfect companions!

And PS: remember what happens when you look for anything 'cat' on Google!! 😸

August 8, 2023... International Cat Day.

This day has been celebrated since 2002 to recognize the joy felines bring. Whether you have one or many, this special day is an opportunity to learn more about cats, their behavior and how we can best take care of them.

Ideas to Celebrate International Cat Day

1. Adopt a cat. Visit a local animal shelter and give an adorable kitty a forever home. Not only will you help a homeless animal but you'll gain a loving companion.

2. Donate to a cat charity. Many organizations are dedicated to helping cats in need. Consider donating funds, food, toys or supplies to a local rescue center.

3. Organize a cat toy drive. Ask your family and friends to bring you cat toys which you can give to local shelters.

4. Share photos and stories. Spread the love by sharing photos and stories of cats that have touched your life, on social media. Use the hashtag #InternationalCatDay so others can enjoy them too!

Why Celebrate International Cat Day?

1. Cats are friendly. They often appear aloof but make very affectionate and loyal companions. They love to snuggle with their owners and can provide much comfort in times of stress or sorrow.

2. Cats keep us entertained. Whether it's chasing a laser pointer or pouncing on toy mice, cats never seem to tire and always find new ways to amuse themselves (and us!). So, for some distraction from your daily life, spend time watching your feline friend; you won't regret it!

3. Cats help improve our well-being. Studies have shown that time with cats can be beneficial. Petting a cat reduces stress levels but having a furry companion in our homes can also improve mental health and an overall sense of well-being.
