Not every attempt to turn an old coin into a wearable ring is successful. Sometimes, the coin just cannot take the strain and it will bust, tear or shatter.
This South African coin tore when I was coning it on the jeweler's mandrel.

Too bad too, as this was looking to be a very detailed and ornate presentation on both the outside edge and inside...
