Why won’t things change?

Feeling stuck in a negative life often stems from deeply rooted limiting beliefs that shape our motivation and decisions. Motivation is driven by two core forces: the desire for pleasure and the avoidance of pain. Every decision we make leans toward what we perceive as more beneficial and away from what feels harmful or risky. However, these perceptions are not always accurate—they are filtered through our personal belief systems.

If you feel trapped and unable to move forward, it’s likely because a belief is telling you that staying where you are is somehow safer or less painful than moving toward what you truly want. For example, if you believe you’re not deserving, not smart enough, or not strong enough, this belief can convince you that failure or rejection is inevitable if you try to move forward. As a result, fear takes over, and you stay stuck.

But here’s the truth: nothing is inherently positive or negative until you judge it that way. Our expectations shape our emotional reactions, often turning neutral events into perceived threats or disappointments. Instead of judging your situation or expecting a specific outcome, shift your mindset and ask, “What can I learn from this? How can this help me grow?”

Think of the “rubber band theory”: the more it’s stretched backward into darkness, the farther it can shoot forward into the light. Your challenges can strengthen your resilience, propelling you into a brighter, more fulfilling life—if you’re willing to release limiting beliefs and embrace growth.

If this reached you or there was something that truly resonated with you, please like and share in hopes this will maybe reach someone that it could help.
