Yesterday while I was mowing, I noticed something that made me stop and think.
The leaves are already beginning their final journey to the ground.
Not many yet. It is still late summer. But as I watched a few slowly fall, I started thinking about how naturally a tree lets go when the season begins to change.
It does not fight to keep every leaf.
It does not hold tighter because that leaf has been there for the year.
It simply releases what has served its purpose because somehow it knows something we often forget.
New growth requires letting go.
Think about how much we hold onto in our own lives. Old relationships. Past mistakes. Regret. Anger. Expectations. Limiting beliefs. Even versions of ourselves that we have already outgrown.
We hold tighter because letting go feels like losing something. But sometimes what we call loss is actually life creating room for what comes next.
Maybe the anxiety we feel is not always about what we are losing. Maybe it comes from our resistance to accepting that the season has changed.
Awareness is recognizing what no longer serves you. Accountability is admitting you are still holding onto it. Responsibility is making the choice to finally release it.
You do not have to know exactly what comes next.
Sometimes you simply have to trust that this season of your life is asking you to let go so the next one has room to grow.

Letting go feels hard because we believe holding on is protecting us. We replay words that hurt us. We relive moments that embarrassed us. We carry old relationships and past mistakes as if they are proof of who we are. At some point this starts to feel normal. Even necessary. We convince ourselves that releasing the past means losing control or excusing what happened.
That belief keeps us stuck.
Holding on is not strength. It is resistance. It is energy tied up in moments that no longer exist. When you grip the past, you are not fixing it. You are feeding it. You keep your body and mind locked in a state of tension that slowly drains you. That heavy state is catabolic energy. It breaks you down while convincing you it is keeping you safe.
Letting go is not giving up. It is taking your power back. It is the decision to stop paying attention to what you cannot change and start investing energy in what you can influence right now. When you release what no longer serves you, you create space. That space allows anabolic energy to rise. Energy that builds you. Energy that supports clarity peace and forward movement.
You do not need to forget the past. You need to stop living in it. Awareness shows you what you are holding. Accountability reminds you that you are the one carrying it. Responsibility gives you the choice to set it down.
You can do this today. Notice what keeps replaying. Ask what it is costing you. Then choose to release it not for them but for you. This is how you become lighter, freer, and aligned with who you are capable of becoming.
