Sometimes it's not the mirror that lies, it's the mind that has learned to see itself harshly. Some people don't see themselves as they are, but as fear has taught them to see themselves: too big, too visible, always out of place. We live anticipating rejection, hiding before being rejected, carrying insecurities that no one else is pointing out. And so, the mind becomes the most constant enemy, repeating a version of ourselves that isn't real, but that hurts as if it were. Understanding this doesn't change the body, but it can begin to free the heart: not everything you think about yourself is true, and not every battle is won by changing on the outside; many are won by learning not to believe the voice that hurts you.
