One UI 6.1.1 to bring Galaxy Z Fold6/Flip6 features to older Samsung phones
One UI 6.1.1, which premiered on the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 will bring a number of new feature to other models in Samsung's portfolio as well.
Per a thread on Samsung's Korean forums, One UI 6.1.1 will ship the Auto Zoom feature in Flex Camera to the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Flex Camcorder mode. Instant Slowmo, which premiered on the Galaxy S24 series, is coming to the Galaxy Z Fold6, Z Flip5, the Galaxy S23, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series.
Portrait Studio allows you to switch between different portrait effects - it's coming to the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4, the Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, the Galaxy S22, S23, and S24 series, the Galaxy S23 FE, and the Galaxy Tab S8 and tab S9 series.
Sketch to Image will come to the same models as Portrait Studio, while Life Effect is coming to all but the Galaxy S23 FE. Motion Clipper, which creates GIFs from motion images is coming to the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4, the Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, the Galaxy S22, S23, and S24 series, the Galaxy S23 FE, and the Galaxy Tab S8 and tab S9 series., as is Overlay translation.

IDC: Smartphone market continues to regain ground in Q2, shipments up 6.5%
Smartphone shipments in Q2 2024 grew 6.5% on a yearly basis, revealed IDC in its latest report on the global market. Companies saw a fourth consecutive quarter of shipment growth and are building towards an expected recovery by the end of the year.
Samsung and Apple remained on top, and all Top 5 companies increased their shipments. IDC revealed that AI and higher average selling prices were the main reasons for the market's improvement between April and June 2024.
One IDC Research Director pointed out that the market is going through a premiumization trend, and Apple and Samsung have benefited the most from it. On the other end are Chinese makers that saw increased shipments in the low end, and as a result, their share in the mid-range is challenged.
The report claims that 19% of all shipments are forecasted to be smartphones with AI features, which is the fastest growth of any mobile innovation IDC has seen.
The growth in Q2 2024 is obviously on the back of the weak demand last year, but it's still encouraging to see it. Some companies have decided to refine product specs or pricing to ensure profitability, but the expectation is that everyone will push AI, which will be the next growth driver after 5G and foldables.

Realme 13 Pro+ gets unboxed on video by company exec
Realme is launching the 13 Pro and 13 Pro+ later this month, and ahead of that it's now ramping up its teaser/hype campaign for the upcoming duo. Today Chase Xu, Realme's VP and President of Global Marketing for the brand has taken to X to unbox the Realme 13 Pro+ on video. This is undoubtedly the world's very first unboxing of the phone.
Xu highlights the design, saying it really does look like a piece of art, which makes sense when you consider that it's been inspired by works by the French painter Oscar-Claude Monet. In fact, two of the three colorways are even named after him: Monet Gold (the one being unboxed) and Monet Purple (seen on the desk next to Xu).
The 13 Pro series was in fact designed in collaboration with Boston's Museum of Fine Arts, bringing impressionist aesthetics to the smartphone world. Under different angles of light, the 13 Pro+ shows different levels of luster.
The layers of the back cover are also shown individually, giving us a look at how the effect is actually created. One final takeaway: no fingerprints or smudges will be seen on the rear.
