In June 2026 , #italia has officially blocked and suspended imports of red shrimp ( Aristaeomorpha foliacea ) from #tunisia after data revealed that Tunisian catch and export volumes far exceeded international management limits by 41% .
Yesterday, 22 October, the block was extended till the end of 2026.

The usual price per kilo of small low quality shrimps was between 56 and 23 TND ( 18.7 and 7 $ ) for years.
Today , the price was officially announced around 6 TND /kg (2 $) for the premium quality (used to be exported).
we don't even see that type in #market since years. And the money goes to few pockets in USD and Euro, to exporting companies outside of Tunisia.

Lunch dish is ready.
My youngest daughter brought home some pieces of shrimp last night from the Visayas. She boiled the shrimp first so it wouldn't spoil during the trip. I cooked it with sour soup and vegetable this is the only available vegetable I have in the kitchen, water spinach.
