Good morning, #tangledfriends ! I hope you are all doing great. Today, I will like to share with you a #motivational short story.
Martha and the Seagull
The old lighthouse keeper, Martha, squinted out at the stormy sea. The waves roared like angry lions, tossing fishing boats like toys. Rain lashed against the windows, blurring the world outside.
Discouragement gnawed at Martha. For weeks, the storm had raged, keeping ships away from the treacherous coastline. No ships meant no income, and Martha worried about making ends meet.
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed through the tower. Rushing down the spiral staircase, Martha found a young seagull, its wing mangled, lying on the cold stone floor. A pang of sympathy shot through her. She knew the dangers of the storm all too well.
Gently, Martha cradled the bird, its terrified eyes staring at her. Despite her own worries, she knew she had to help. She cleaned the wound, fashioned a sling from a piece of cloth, and built a makeshift nest from an old towel. Over the next few days, Martha cared for the seagull, feeding it scraps from her meager meals and talking to it in a soothing voice.
The storm finally abated, leaving behind a sky washed clean and a sea sparkling like sapphires. As the sun rose, casting a golden glow on the tower, Martha carried the seagull to the balcony. With a hesitant flap of its undamaged wing, the bird launched itself into the air. Circling the tower once, it let out a loud cry, as if saying goodbye, before soaring away towards the horizon.
Martha watched it disappear into the distance, a strange feeling warming her chest. Helping the seagull hadn't solved her own problems, but it had reminded her of her own strength and resilience. Just like the lighthouse, she had weathered the storm, and the sun would rise again. With renewed determination, Martha headed back inside, ready to face whatever came next.
