I walked into a place filled with memories of my father and my three sons. Years of moments all hitting at once. Then later that night I watched a friend stand on stage and play music after almost losing his life. I sat there and realized something in real time. The emotions were strong, but they were not heavy unless I chose to make them that way.
Those same memories could have pulled me into loss. I could have focused on what is no longer here. I could have let it drain me. But I did not. I chose to see what I was given instead of what I lost or almost lost.
I chose to feel gratitude for every moment I got to experience. I chose to appreciate the impact, the love, the memories that still live inside me. And in that choice, my energy shifted. What could have been heavy became fuel.
This is what most people miss. Memories are not the problem. It is how we use them. You can relive them through lacking and loss and feel drained, or you can relive them through gratitude and feel strengthened.
You always have that choice.
So when your memories show up, do not run from them and do not let them control you. Use them. Let them remind you of what matters. Let them refuel your energy. Let them push you forward.
Your life is not built by what happened. It is built by how you choose to experience what happened.

You carry your burdens like a badge of honor—wearing your pain, struggles, and past wounds as proof of what you’ve endured. You tell yourself it’s justified, that life has been unfair, that others should recognize what you’ve suffered. But in truth, these burdens don’t define you. You are not trapped by them; you are holding onto them. And the moment you decide to let go, you’ll realize you were never truly bound.
Most people don’t see it. They live in a prison of their own making, convinced that their suffering gives them identity, validation, or even power. They replay their hardships, believing that their struggle makes them worthy, that their wounds prove something to the world. But in reality, this only keeps them stuck—repeating the same patterns, carrying the same weight, feeling the same pain. Suffering.
Freedom is possible, but it requires a shift. You can’t break free with the same energy that created your burdens. You have to rise above them. This means letting go of victimhood, releasing the need for validation, and choosing a higher, more powerful and anabolic energy—one that isn’t rooted in blame, resentment, or self-pity.
The truth is, you are not your past. You are not your pain. And you are certainly not a victim. The only thing keeping you in chains is the belief that you are. The moment you decide to see it differently, the weight will fall away, and you’ll step into a freedom you never thought possible.

But here’s the truth: they aren’t. That tension is something you’ve picked up along the way, not something you need to hold onto. Right now, in this moment, you don’t have to wear any masks. You don’t need to brace yourself for what might happen next or prove anything to anyone. In this space, it’s safe to let go.
Now, letting go might feel strange at first. Relaxing can actually make you more aware of how much tension you’ve been holding, and that awareness might feel uncomfortable. But that’s a good thing—it means you’re doing it right. It’s like sitting back after being on high alert for hours and suddenly noticing how tight your shoulders were.
I want you to practice this: set aside the world for a moment. Let yourself feel how much lighter you are when you’re not carrying everything. This is what your heart and spirit truly crave—freedom from the weight that was never yours to bear.
