Hello! Not sure if this is the right place to post this
I'm making the trek to audition for graduate school in Piano Performance, putting in my hours, and this past week I've been noticing a shift in my playing, which I think is due to the amount of practice, exertion, etc. that occurs,
It feels like I've unlocked a new aspect of "hearing," a new dimension where the quality of sound is HD, and felt like limitlessness/eternity. I've had flow states before while playing music, but this felt more intense, or a deeper, more present flow. There was no right or wrong, there didn't need to be, and everything was clear, I could hear the relationships in real time between the notes, myself, my fingers, my hands...the resonance on the body of the piano. I was extremely engaged and refreshed by this experience, I felt porous with the energy of divinity. It felt like everything about life I ever needed to know, or could know, I could just know it on the piano.
Today I started humming along with the melody line of the pieces I play/practice, and that altered the perspective a bit too, I felt like I was harmonizing, in union with my music, it wasn't such a distanced art anymore. It felt raw and personal, but also transcended the personal as well. Singing has expanded my relationship with the piano.
I just wanted to share this experience I had, if anyone has any similar experience I'd love to hear!
