Incredibly unprofessional and insulting move by my job
Some background: Got a contract to hire role in April for a 4 month span
Today I got an email from someone new at the company that said he was just hired (for the same role I am) and asked if I had time to go over some of our systems with him. I had no idea who he was so I messaged my manager who got on a call with me and said they found a full time person for that role and my last day would be next Friday and that someone should have told me.
He also then asked if I can get on a call with the guy to explain everything to him so he’s caught up which I thought was very insulting. So first you don’t even give me a heads up you’re ending my contract a month early because the new director decided to hire his own person, but you want me to get on a call with my replacement the same day?
I had to control my emotions and just say “sure” when I had no intentions of calling him. I am still getting paid for this week and next week so I simply sent him an email response with a couple documents and no formalities.
It’s one thing if you’re not gonna hire me, another thing when you’re gonna end the contract earlier, but finding out less than 2 weeks before it ends because my replacement emailed me is incredibly unprofessional and insulting. I’m still technically working until the end of next week but I’ll be putting in minimal effort. #business source
