Container Store Zelda pulling away from the wall. Can I use the same holes but replace the drywall anchors with toggle bolts?
Installed a little over 10 years ago by yours truly. I did install the anchors correctly to my knowledge but out of 12 holes on the horizontal support beam - zero hit studs. I only have an inch and a half of room to move the bar side to side and the studs are more than 2” in either direction. There are two bars, one 8 holes and one 4. The holes are 8 inches apart from each other. I could just put in more Elfa drywall anchors but I’m afraid they will still pull out slightly. I see that toggle bolts of a similar size can hold nearly 100lbs each. I drilled 3/8” holes for the existing ones so I could get the according toggle bolts. Another option is to move the holes up by 1-2 inches and drill all new holes but with the drywall patching, priming and painting the work adds up quick. Not to mention how hard it is to line up all these holes in a perfect level row. I tried to drill through the metal bar where the studs are to put wood screws in there but it seems I don’t have a drill bit qualified for the job. Anyone have experience me using toggle bolts with elfa systems or anything other than the plastic included ones? #home source
