Andersen Window / Door Quality
This year we’ve made two Andersen 400 purchases. First a storm door and then a bay window. There are problems with both…Are these things not nearly as good as they used to be? My parents have the 400 windows in their house and after 25 years no issues.
I installed the storm door myself, no problem, but then noticed the screen only pulled halfway down before becoming very tight and stopping. The fixed glass at the bottom was not assembled right either, one corner stuck out and didn’t seem to be fastened. First time it rained there was a leak in the corner of the glass.
Then the bay window. Installed without a problem, everything seems fine. The first time I open the window I look down and notice 2 screws and 2 big staples coming through the vinyl frame of the window. These are not from install, there are no fasteners there. These are factory errors and make the window not watertight, a hazard to wipe down.
Did I miss some sort of memo? Very hesitant to buy another one of their products even though they are supposed to be some of the best??
