Treated like I’m not in the room - when somebody communicates to you via another person

Title says it. When I’m visiting my friend, their mother mostly communicates indirectly with me. For example, if leftovers are being packed up: “Did (my name) get any?” Instead of just turning and directly asking me to my face. It’s a problem unique to me. When other people visit, they get asked direct questions. It’s like a weird game of telephone. Like I’m not in the room.

It’s happened enough times that I would like to say something but worried it’ll come off as abrasive.
