I know Imperial Russia was absolutely brutal but I find it amazing and sad looking back and seeing how much America and them got along before the USSR

Also many US presidents, leadership, and people even at the earliest parts of US history got along famously with Russians. A big highlight was John Quincy Adams becoming friends with Alexander II while he served as the minister to Russia.
