Good morning #tanglers The 28-Day Wall: It’s All Mental…

Good morning #tanglers
The 28-Day Wall: It’s All Mental Now 🧠🔥
I’m 28 days in. The nicotine is gone, but the "Mind Demons" have moved in. Science says it takes 90 days for the brain’s dopamine receptors to fully reset. Right now, I’m in the "Mental Renovation" phase.
The Demons I’m Fighting Every Minute:
The Romanticizer : Telling me it "wasn't that bad." (It was).
The "Just One" Liar : Pretending I can handle a single puff.
The Emotional Anchor : Trying to link my stress to a habit I've outgrown.

It’s not a physical craving anymore; it’s a rewiring process. 62 days to go until the brain finds its new normal.
One minute at a time. ⏳💪

I'm about to embark on the same journey... just two cartons away before I start chewing gum 😝. Stay busy to keep your mind occupied 🙏

Love to hear it! Those last two cartons are the 'final farewell' tour. Definitely stock up on that gum—staying busy is the only way to outrun the Mind Demons. 😝 I’m actually 40 days deep now and I can tell you—the air is much thinner (and better) up here—I’ll be waiting for you at the 40-day mark! 🚭✨

Hope to join you. It's been 42 years since I became hooked on that first cigarette!

Wow! 42 years is almost a "lifetime", in my case it was 37 years. Now that I have been clean for some time I finally see the "hole" I digging myself into....so I truly hope that you find the will power to stop, sadly for me it took a emergengy admitance into a hospital to quit, please don't wait for that to happen. So join me as non-smoker, you won't regret it 💪🏻

My arithmetic was awry... started at 16, now 62... so 46 years. Sorry to hear that admission to hospital prompted the need to stop. I hope you're recovering well.

Ironically, recent surgery on my hand brought me into contact with a clinician who happened to ask if I had ever considered stopping smoking. He wanted the open wounds to heal quickly.

I've quit three times in the past (more than 30 years ago); it took a week for the cravings to disappear but I missed the habit and thought, foolishly, "if I can do it now, I can do it later."

Now that I'm older and weaker, the conversation about cessation was opportune and welcome. Self-maintenance!!

Stay strong 💪

Thanks, it means a lot coming from someone who’s been free for so many years. I’m learning from all of you that the thoughts may show up, but they don’t have to win. One day at a time. 🙏💛

Just remember, for many it never completely leaves. I still have days where I may spend a few minutes debating whether to go buy a pack. At least I am past that fierce 'GOTTA HAVE ONE RIGHT NOW!' stage...

I appreciate you sharing that. Hearing how others navigate the lingering thoughts makes this journey feel a lot less lonely. It reminds me that the goal isn’t perfection, it’s staying aware and choosing differently each time.
