Hi! I’m looking for some guidance on a 2 week trip I’ll be taking to Peru in April.
1. I will only have about 24 hours or so in Lima, so I’m wondering what specifically I should prioritize during my time there?
2. I already bought my entrance ticket to Machu Picchu, but I just learned about an easy two-day, one-night hike that could take me there instead. Would it be worth it to just eat the cost to the $40 entrance fee and hike instead? The hike is expensive, but it includes a night at a hotel, plus a guide, entrance to MP, and 3 meals. Is it really a huge difference to do something like that versus just going myself? Help!
3. I’m thinking of using Peru Hop and was going to do their “Full South” tour, which includes a day at Puno/Lake Titicaca. I’m reading that Puno seems to be pretty touristy, specifically the Uros Islands. If I skip that, then it’s a day of driving from Arequipa to Cusco instead (as opposed to an overnight drive from A to C). Should I skip the lake and suffer the 12 hr day drive, if it gets me into Cusco at 6:30pm?
4. Lastly, if anyone has any feedback on Peru Hop, I would love to hear it! I’ve read mostly good things but a few things have caught my attention and made me wary.
