How do I get through being excluded?
I’ve posted a long time here trying to understand how to make friends. Of that advice, the top advice I got was to start inviting people and then they’d invite me. Well, foolishly, I did that. I decided to host a party for a book turned into movie for some girls I see in regularly in a book club.
It turns out one of those girls was also hosting that same party. She was quite offended. I moved mine to a different day and apologized, explaining I had no idea that would happen. I also had invited her to mine. She declined and did not send an invite to hers.
Hers was amazing, over the top, with custom goodies and felt like an amazing movie night. People posted thanking her for her hosting. No one posted that for me. They only posted my decor and set up. People didn’t even know I hosted as it looked like a bookclub from the lack of recognition.
Anyways, I’m not sure how to get through this. I feel rejected by everyone in that group. Most of our mutuals neglected to come to mine and went to hers.
I think to myself, why host if everyone has better places to go to?
How will I face that girl again as we run in mutual circles? I can’t lie it hurt me a lot to be excluded especially as I included her. Do I cover my hurt or withdraw from mutuals as well?
